  • Congratulations to the Theatre Arts Club for great performances of “Broadway Through the Years.” Great job!!
  • All items in Lost and Found must be claimed by end of day today. Any items not claimed will be donated to Good Will. Lost and Found is located in the gym and the office.

    • Check out the June Edition of the NSMS School Newspaper (there is a link on the right-hand side bar.) Our young journalists have done a fantastic job this year with the newspaper, Bravo!
    • Tomorrow is the middle school Field Day. All students should come to school prepared to be outdoors by wearing sunscreen, bringing a water bottle, a wearing a hat.
    • Items in Lost and Found must be claimed by Friday, 6/18. All items not claimed will be donated to Good Will. Lost and Found is located in the gym and the office.
    • Tickets for the Drama Club performance of Broadway Through the Ages are $7 and are on sale during homeroom and lunches. The second performance will be held tonight in the high school auditorium.
    • Field Day Pass Packages will be on sale today during all three lunches. Packages are $10 and include a bracelet pass, tee-shirt, and lemonade ticket. Field day will be held Friday, 6/18.
    • This week is Spirit Week. The daily events are as follows:  Today is Decades Day; Friday is Class Colors Day – 8th grade is green; 7th grade is blue; 6th grade is red.

    • This week is Middle School Spirit Week. The daily events are as follows: Monday is Sports Day; Tuesday is Fashion Disaster Day; Wednesday is Disney/Cartoon Character Day; Thursday is Decades Day; and Friday is Class Color Day – 8th grade is green, 7th grade is blue, 6th grade is red.
    • There will be no Science Olympiad meeting after school today.
    • There will be a Gardening Club meeting on Wednesday, 6/16 in room 310 until 3:00 p.m.
    • Tickets for today’s McMullin Memorial Softball Game are still being sold. They will be on sale during all three lunches. The game will take place at 3:15 p.m. on the middle school softball field. Admission is $5 and all money will be donated to the Tim McMullin Memorial Fund. Prizes and gift certificates will be raffles off throughout the game as the faculty tries to defend last year’s victory.

    • Today at 3:00 p.m.  is the Annual Faculty Basketball game. Tickets are $2 and will be sold at the door. This is the first event that will be counted toward Spirit Week points. Come out and earn your grade an early lead in this year’s competition!

    • The Faculty-Student Softball Game will be held Monday, 6/14 at 3:15 p.m. Tickets will be $5 and will be sold during lunch starting Thursday, 6/10. All proceeds go to the Tim McMullin Memorial Fund.
    • The NS Book Club will meet Thursday, 6/10 from 2:15-3:00 p.m.  in room 209. If you cannot attend, see Mrs. Nangle.

    • The Lady Northmen Softball team completed a magical year on Friday at Rhode Island College, defeating Feinstein Middle School, and became the 2010 STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONS! The team had not lost a game since the 2nd week of the season and this was the 15th win in a row. The Softball Team will have the distinct honor of hoisting the 1st state championship banner in the middle school. Congratulations ladies!
    • There will be a Gardening Club meeting on Wednesday, 6/9 in room 310 until 3:00 p.m. Every effort should be made to attend.

    • The Lady Northmen Softball team plays Feinstein Middle School today in the State Championship game at Rhode Island College at 4:00 p.m. Come out to support the team. Go Lady Northmen!!!
    • The 8th Grade Step-Up Dance is tonight in the Middle School cafeteria from 6:30-9:00 p.m. There will be a photographer available for a fee. The photo package envelopes have been sent home with students. Admission is free – each student must have the signed permission slip as their ticket to the dance. Students who do not have a signed permission slip will not be allowed into the dance. This dance is for 8th graders only. 
    • Registration for North Smithfield Xpress Football and Cheerleading will be held at Scouter’s Hall at Pacheco Park on Saturday, 6/5 from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and Saturday, 7/10 from noon-3:00 p.m. New participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate to registration.
    • Rhode Island Department of Ed has scheduled your student to take the new online survey, Survey Works! the week of 6/7. A letter was sent home containing information about the survey and your rights to opt out your student from participating. Return the form only if you DO NOT want your student to participate. If you would like to review the survey, a copy is available in the front office.

    • Congratulations to the middle school Girls Softball Team on their 5-4 win over Scituate yesterday. This win places the team in the State Championship game tomorrow at Rhode Island College. Go Lady Northmen!
    • The school will be sponsoring a Fan Bus for any student interested in attending the Girls Softball State Championship game at RIC on Friday afternoon. Anyone wishing to attend the game must bring in a signed permission slip on Friday morning. Space is limited, so get the permission slips in on time.
    • There is a mandatory National Junior Honor Society induction ceremony rehearsal today from 2:15-3:15 p.m. in the cafeteria. See Miss Brooks with any questions.
